About the Canadian National Exhibition Foundation

The CNE Foundation is a registered charity founded in 1975 to promote interest in agriculture, horticulture, music, art, education and community building.  Our vision is to empower Community and to Improve Lives. Each year the CNE Foundation will  award a number of grants to qualified Canadian donees who are committed to supporting youth in the areas of Agriculture and the Environment, Arts and Culture, Industry and Entrepreneurship, Community Building and Skill building, confidence and job readiness. Stay tuned for an announcement as to when we will be opening up the application process.

In addition in 2019 The CNE Foundation will invest time and resources to understand and impact the underlying issues and barriers around youth employment.

The CNE Foundation wants to build capacity of young Canadians working collaboratively with community agencies who have set a standard of excellence and inspiring practices around youth employment.

The CNE Foundation will pilot a project to help youth prepare to make that first big step into the world of work. In 2019, they will work with agencies to impact youth in the development of skills, confidence and job readiness. After completing the week long training program, called the CNE Foundation Pathways to Job Readiness, youth will be transitioned to summer employment at the CNE with wrap around supports. Ongoing mentoring events, workshops and career development will be offered throughout the year to close out  the circle of support.

The current programming goal of the CNE Foundation is to help young people write their story of work, one of purpose and financially security, while building their capacity so they can themselves in it for their future success.

In 2013, the Foundation introduced the inaugural Eamonn O'Loghlin Scholarship Fund to honour the memory of Eamonn O'Loghlin, the Canadian National Exhibition's Director of Sponsorship and Partnerships, who passed away suddenly in January 2013. The scholarship was established to help post-secondary students, employed by the Canadian National Exhibition, pursue their studies and also to honour the indomitable spirit of Eamonn O'Loghlin, recognizing his love for Canada and his commitment to youth and the community.

After careful consideration,Katy Harris, Nana Donkor and Shara Birnbaum were selected as the 2018 recipients.
